“Afterparty” captures the sleuthy, Hollywood-esque grime and grotesque—a behind-the-scenes of sex appeal. Shot in a gas station bathroom with a ratty wig and a box of cigarettes, this piece is an ode to relief, and the recoil of revocation after a night of performance, regardless of whether it takes place on stage or in a city alleyway.
"Intermission" explores the breakdown of performance as a continuous act, from behind the curtain and beneath the stage. Each image captures a different point in this collapse: "Call Time" freezes the performer at the moment the illusion begins prematurely, identity still elastic and unclaimed. "Afterparty" rewinds from applause into fluorescent regret. Neither moment belongs to the narrative arc they were costumed for. Intermission is an unauthorized pause, a moment exposed between acts.
